If you use the mutil-operartion system like me opeate win2000 and gentoo linux,you'll need to access difference partion device at some special situation.
As below descriptions indicated,you will understand how to access the win2000 partion device.
First to make sure you choose these kernel option.
File systems -->DOS/FAT/NT Filesystems
<*> MSDOS fs support
<*> VFAT (Windows-95) fs support
(493) Default codepage for FAT
(utf8) Default iocharset for FAT
<*> NTFS file system support
[*] NTFS debugging support
[*] NTFS write support
The values are enclosed in the parenthese,"(493)" and "(utf8)" mean the system can identify the unciode.
These values "(493)" and "(utf8)" is important especoally for the Traditonal Chinese environment.
Through the above setting you can see the file named with the Traditonal Chinese. If you still can't see any thing named with the Tradintonal Chinese,try to check is there any Chinese font or is the value "(utf8)" correct. Sometimes you maybe feel tried and will type the wrong value like ("utf-8"),and this is illigal usage.
After you make && make modules your new kernel,I guess you can mount your ntfs partion device successfully. Just to type the command lines as the blow decription.. mount -t ntfs /dev/hda /mnt/diskc
